SWHelp:Importing Ebay Listings
From StampWantsWiki
Getting Started
You can easily import your current and past listings from Ebay to our website. All information, including title, price, description and images will be retained (except shipping costs). To get started, you'll need a copy of Ebay's Turbo Lister program. Please note that you do not need to have created your listings in Ebay's Turbo Lister, but you do need it to import your listings to our website. If you don't already have it installed on your computer, you can easily download and install it from Ebay's website here: http://pages.ebay.com/turbo_lister/
Importing Your Current or Closed Listings into Ebay's Turbo Lister
Open Ebay's Turbo Lister on your computer.
If you have just installed Ebay's Turbo Lister, or are using it for the first time:
You will be prompted to enter your Ebay username and password. Enter your information and then click on the "Next". Followed by "Connect Now". Confirm your Contact Information and click on "Next" again. Select "Import My Ebay Listings" and click "Finish".
OR If Ebay's Turbo Lister was already installed on your computer, and you have previously used it:
From the "File" menu select "Import Items" and then "From Ebay Listings".
Select from "Active Listings" or "Completed Listings". Then click on the "Import" button. Please be patient as this may take a long time, especially if you have a lot of items.
Exporting Your Listings from Ebay's Turbo Lister
Once your items have been imported into Ebay's Turbo Lister, select the items you wish to import.
Selecting All Items
From the "Edit" menu, select "Select All".
Selecting Items Individually
You can select items individually by clicking on them, and then either holding the "Control" (Ctrl) down on your keyboard and clicking on additional items, or the "Shift" key down on your keyboard and clicking to select ranges. Note that you may also want to click on the column heading for "Format" to sort by auction/store items to easily select only a specific type using the "shift" key method.
Exporting Items
From the "File" menu select "Export Selected Items". On the next screen be sure to set the option for "File Format" to "Turbo Lister Format (CSV)". Please note that even though you are in Ebay's Turbo Lister, this is not the default option!
Once you specify the correct file format, click on the "Export" button. You will then be prompted to name and save the export file. It does not matter what you name your file, or where you save it, just be sure to remember both.
Import Your Listings to Our Website
Relax! The hardest part is over! Now just go to our website, and log in to your account. From the My StampWants / My CoinWants area click on the "Bulk Uploader" link, which is located on the left hand side under the "Selling" heading. Please note: If you are planning on importing store items, be sure you have an active store subscription on our website. To check, or to subscribe to a store subscription go to the "Store Subscription" link first (directly above the "Bulk Uploader" link).
On the Bulk Uploader page all you need to do is click on "Browse" and select the file you just exported from Ebay's Turbo Lister. Then click on the "Upload File" button.
You will now be on the "(Bulk Uploader v3.0 - Step 2/4)" page. While we can import almost all of your information from your Ebay listings, we can not import your shipping costs. However, you can set your shipping costs on the next page for all of your listings. You can also add extra payment options, not available on Ebay. All other settings on the page should be left as is, and only apply to our standard Bulk Uploader, not Ebay Listings Imports.
Please Note: After you create and activate your listings you can edit the listings individually to specify different shipping costs. Additionally you can go to the "Bulk Changes" section of the My StampWants / My CoinWants area to set the shipping costs for specific items based on price, and other search criteria. Additionally, please be advised that on our website all shipping costs are required to be specified, if you do not specify shipping costs, they will be entered as $0.00 (free). If this is the first time you are listing on our website, you may also want to visit the My StampWants / My CoinWants - "Account Details" area to specify shipping discounts for multiple item purchases, as well as review our "add to shipping costs" table rate options for shipping and insurance charges based on a customer's total purchase price (which can be added to the standard per item shipping fees).
Click on the "Submit & Review Listings" button at the bottom of the page.
Important! At this step, you may be prompted to download a file which will copy the images saved on your computer for your listings (in Ebay's Turbo Lister) from your computer to our website. If prompted, please follow the on screen instructions. All you need to do is save the file provided, and then run it (double click it) on your computer. You should then see a black window with the status of each image being copied to our website. Once the transfer of files is complete, the window will automatically close. If you do not see anything happening in the window, and the window appears to "just sit there": First, try temporarily disabling any virus scanner or firewall software you are running, and then try running the file again. If that does not work, please contact us. Additionally, this only works on Windows computers. If you do not have access to a windows computer, please let us know.
Alternatively, you may not be prompted to copy any images, in which case you should see a message "You do not need to upload any pictures; Select All Your Auctions Below and Activate Them". This does not necessarily mean that your listings will not have any images. It may simply mean that your images can be copied directly from Ebay, or another website where your images are hosted.
Review and make any needed changes to your listings and then click on "Activate All". Let the page finish loading, and you're done!
Other Available Options
Auto Removal of listings on our website when they sell on Ebay
If you have the same items listed on both Ebay and our website, we can automatically remove them from our website when they sell on Ebay. This only applies to items sold on Ebay, and not just items which are ended. Additionally, items on Ebay will not be ended if they are sold on our website. This is a free service we provide. However, we will require your Ebay username and password, which we will keep in a secure database. For more information, please contact us, using the "Contact Us" link at the top of any page.
Let us import your items for you
If you are having difficulty importing your listings or images, let us import them for you. We can do this for you one time at no additional changes. However, we will require your Ebay username and password, which we will keep secure and remove from our systems upon completion. If you would like us to do this for you more than one time, there is a $25.00 fee per import (regardless of the amount of items).
F.A.Q.s
I am having trouble importing my listings, or my images, can you do it for me?
Yes, we'd be glad to help. Please see the "Let us import your items for you" section above.
Why does Ebay's Turbo Lister freeze when I try to import my active or completed listings?
We've noticed that Ebay's Turbo Lister often freezes when importing items! In most cases we recommend closing Ebay's Turbo Lister and trying again. If you continue to have trouble, and are importing closed listings, try importing a smaller range of closed listings.
Can I create new listing in Ebay's Turbo Lister and then import them directly?
Yes, just follow the same steps as above, except skip the "Importing Your Current or Closed Listings into Ebay's Turbo Lister " step.
Can I import my items from other websites?
If you can export a list of your items from a website, you should be able to import them to our site. To do so, export your file, upload it to our Bulk Uploader, and follow the instructions on our StampWants Bulk Uploader help page.
