1) Welcome to the All NEW StampWants.com!
After close to a year in development, based on your past four years of comments and suggestions we are pleased to present the all NEW StampWants.com!
StampWants.com first launched on March 1, 2005, a little over four years ago. However, four years represents a lifetime of changes in the world of the Internet. Throughout the course of these past four years we've utilized new technologies and suggestions we've received from you (our users) to enhance our website and better suit the needs of buyers and sellers. We've gone through several theme changes and new pages and enhancements to our core pages (our home page, searching and browsing pages). Toward the end of 2008 we began to think - "What would StampWants look like if it were to be built now, and we used all of our knowledge we accumulated over the past 4 years both on the technological and user experience side?" As we thought about this more and started putting together proposals we realized all of the features we could offer, and all of the substantial improvements and innovative features we could add. Not only to make StampWants.com better, but to simply make the best online marketplace - with innovative features never before seen anywhere; and so began the journey towards the NEW StampWants.com!
2) List Non-Stamp Items for Free in Our New Main Categories!
Besides Stamps and Coins we now have a category for almost any items you may want to list, grouped together under several new main categories, with a primary focus on collectible items.
As a quick note if you are only interested in stamps, we have a separate home page the StampWants – Stamps home page. So you don't need to worry about seeing items you're not interested in. Even better, several larger stamp sub-categories including United States and Europe now have their own home pages as well!
With so many new main and sub-categories there's a place for everything. With our state of the art technology and features, StampWants.com is aiming to be a leader of online marketplaces, and is an excellent fit for sellers tired of paying high fees elsewhere. With that in mind, we have a special offer and plan for sellers of non-stamp items on our website. With our extensive and professional platform, StampWants.com is the perfect place to sell any item. However, as we've just started expanding into new categories, and with the vast amount of new categories possible it may take some time to build a customer base for each of these new categories. As such, we're going to be offering free listings fees (final value and upgrade fees still apply) in all non-stamp categories (including coins) for at least six months!
This means that you can list all of the items you want for free through at least the end of 2009, both auction and store items! In return, our only request to you is to help us build the best online marketplace. Build your presence online at StampWants.com, list all of the items you have available to sell and help attract your existing and new customers to your new listings. It's a win-win situation for everyone, as you'll save drastically on selling fees, and as a buyer the savings can get past on to you! So tell everyone about the new StampWants.com, and let's make buying and selling online fun again! No need to worry about losing money when you sell with our low selling fees (even after our free listing period ends, which will last at least six months!)
You'll find that many of our new categories are similar or comparable to categories on ebay. This was done intentionally to allow us to easily map ebay's categories to our own. This means that you can easily import any items from ebay to StampWants.com from any category and almost all of them will be listed in the correct equivalent categories on StampWants.com! * Terms: No hidden terms or conditions here, free listing fees (final value and upgrade fees still apply) in all non-Stamp main categories and their sub-categories. This includes: Antiques & Art, Books & Comics, Coins & Paper Money, Collectibles, Entertainment Memorabilia, Jewelry & Watches, Movies, Music & Video Games, Postcards, Sports Cards & Memorabilia, Toys & Hobbies & "Everything Else" through at least the end of 2009.
3) A Look at the NEW StampWants.com
Exciting New Features
* The StampWants My Bar: The StampWants My Bar is a bar that sits on the bottom of your Internet browser. You can click to open a small preview window of items you are watching, bidding on, and recently viewed. All of which are updated in real time with current bid/end times. You'll also notice on the right hand side a "Notifications" area. Here you will receive new notifications for various events (such as when you are outbid on an item). At any time you can click this area to review your current and past notifications. When you get a new notification the count will increase (and bounce up and down so you notice it!)
* Searching & Browsing: There are many new features to use when searching and browsing. You can now view who the seller is and what the shipping cost will be (to you based on where you and the seller live). You can click on the seller's username to view only items from that seller, or exclude any seller by clicking on the X to the right of their username. You will also notice a new "Refine Search" box on the left hand side, as well as a "Matching Stores" box.
* Item Listing Pages: The Item Listing page has been completely re-designed and is now simpler and more streamlined. Additionally, auction items are now updated in real time, so there is no need to click refresh on your Internet browser!
* These are just a few of the many exciting new features we have to offer! Be sure to explore our new website to experience all of our exciting and useful new features.
Key Differences in the NEW StampWants.com
* Searching and Browsing are now better integrated. If you want to search within a specific category just select that category first by browsing using the category links on the main page or in the top header. Once you are in a category you can search directly within that category using the new and improved search bar. Alternatively, just search within all categories, and the use the 'Narrow by Category' feature to narrow down your results.
* StampWants and CoinWants were previously separated into two different websites. In the NEW StampWants.com - StampWants and CoinWants are combined. We've also added several other main new categories, to all buyers and sellers to buy and sell almost any item possible (with a strong focus on collectible items). After all, our goal was to build the best online marketplace, period. However, if you're only interested in Stamps, don't worry! All main categories will now have their own home pages. So if you really want just bookmark the StampWants - Stamps home page, or the StampWants - Coins home page. However, it gets even better! Any sub-category with over 100,000 items will now additionally have their own home pages as well (including Stamps - United States and Stamps - Europe).
