USA 234 - 5¢ 1893 Columbian Used Scott Grade XF Superb 95 - CV $180

This previously hinged stamp is remarkably well centered for this issue. Listing at 33% of catalog.

If this stamp were graded and priced using the illustrated grading chart for the new Scott 98 Point Grading System, I am of the opinion that it would probably grade out at XF Superb-95 with a catalog value of $180.

For an understanding of the new system including the grading chart, please see the Scott 2008 United States Specialized Valuing Supplement Catalog - Fall Edition.

This stamp does not have a PSE (Professional Stamp Experts) or PF (Philatelic Foundation) graded certification. In my opinion it does merit 3rd party graded certification consideration by either one of these organizations.

It is important to note that in late 2005 the PF adopted PSE's numerical scale for the grading of US stamps and in 2006 Scott also recognized this scale and started publishing its United States Specialized Valuing Supplement Catalog with numeric and dollar values attached to stamp grades (F - F/VF - VF- XF etc.) it had already established back in the 1950s.

Buyer pays $2.00 for US shipping and TLC handling, $3.00 for International S/H. I do not consolidate shipping and handling, please pay for each invoice as issued when issued.

I prefer payment in cash, however I do accept checks, money orders and PayPal as well. If you do send payment in cash, round of to the nearest higher dollar, I will send your change in OLDER mint US postage. This payment incentive applies to cash payments only.
