Description

Unsealed, unaddressed, poly-sleeve enclosed cover (cacheted both sides) honoring World War II's most legendary U.S. Army Battlefield Commander, General George S. Patton Jr., Recipient of numerous medals/decorations by the U.S., as well as many awards bestowed upon him by our Allied Countries. Front cachet consist of a color photo of the general in uniform, with pertinent text, the American Flag, U.S. Third Army Insignia, and seven (7) rows of ribbons representing decorations & awards he received during his dedicated military career. Text includes two (2) of Patton's famous quotes, "I am a soldier. I fight where I am told, and I win where I fight" & "It is foolish and wrong to mourn the men who died. Rather we should thank God that such men lived". Franked with the "Purple Heart" and canceled, "ATLANTA, GA DEC 21 2007", home of Fort McPherson's U.S. Third Army Headquarters. Back cachet is a battlefield photo of Patton, and his famous prayer for fair weather at Bastogne, December, 1944 is quoted. Also, a facimile of his autograph. Cover# 4 of 10. "TOP SARGE" Cachet. A very attractive, unique & inexpensive piece of historical military memorabilia.
