5 Japan Souvenir Sheets

1971 and 1975 Emperor Hirohito and Empress Nagako Visits

Two commemorate visits by the Emperor and Empress in 1971 to Europe and in 1975 to the United States. Both feature perforated stamps and Japanese inscriptions. The 1971 sheet is Scott #1094a and the 1975 sheet is #1234a; they have a combined catalog value of $1.75 (2007 Catalogue).

1968 and 1975 New Year's Day lottery blocks

These three sheets are from the New Year's Day lottery series. One is of a 4-stamp block featuring white cranes and a "climbing monkey toy" design from 1968 (Scott #940, $1.25); two are the 3-stamp-block featuring "ornamental nail cover from Katsura Palace," from 1975 (Scott #1198, $1.50 each).

All five sheets are mint/never hinged, or if previously hinged with only light hinge marks on the top, and in excellent condition. The line along the bottom of each scan is from the holder, and is not a fault on the sheet.
