Description

Very attractive Cacheted cover (both sides) honoring the Four U.S. Army Chaplains who sacrificed their lives so that others might live by giving up their life vests when the U.S. Army Transport Ship, "Dorchester" was sinking rapidly after being struck by a torpedo from an enemy (German) submarine U-223 in the North Atlantic on February 3, 1943. After heroically and calmly moving about the deck, encouraging and assisting the men to abandon ship. They remained aboard ship and went down with it offering words of encouragement and prayers to the last.
