No Face Value Souvenir Sheet are special souvenir sheet issued by China National Philatelic Corporation(CNPC) or its branch,which commemorate important events,people,philately,activities. It is a supplement of chinese stamp issue.

One reason:Every year, CNPC will appraise through comparison to vote best stamp and issue No Face Value Souvenir Sheet.
Second reason:Many good issued stamps had no souvenir sheet,just postage stamps,So CNPC issue
its souvenir sheet without marked face value as complementarity.

Strictly speaking,Because NFV S/S has no postage on it ,It doesn`t has function of post as stamp,Just "souvenir".But most of them are created by famous artist and stamp designer, meanwhile, because of its small circulation,good print quality,high artistic value and elegant appearance ,So in the field of collection,NFV S/S has its own collection value,Many stamp collectors also pride with them.

>>About Artist:
Giuseppe Castiglione, S.J. Chinese name:Lang Shining(July 19, 1688 – July 17, 1766) was an Italian Jesuit Brother, missionary in China, painter at the court of the Emperor.

Born in Milan's San Macellino district, Castiglione studied painting in Italy with Carlo Cornara of the renowned Botteghe degli Stampator painting studio. In 1709, he became a Jesuit and in 1715, he went to China as a missionary. His skill as an artist was appreciated by the Emperor Qianlong and Castiglione spent many years painting various subjects. His style was a unique blend of European painting with Chinese subjects and themes.

While in China, Castiglione took the name Lang Shining. In addition to his demonstrable skill as a painter, he was also in charge of designing the Western-Style Palaces in the imperial gardens of the Old Summer Palace. This prominent Jesuit artist, architect, and missionary died in Beijing.

In 2005, Castiglione became the subject of the television series Palace Artist in China, played by famed foreign actor Dashan (Mark Rowswell), and broadcast by China Central Television (CCTV).
